I love the ipad/iPhone version but this was not ready to be released. Very disappointed. Save you money.
Was looking for a quality Google Reader client and found one with Mobile RSS. Design is sharp and minimal. Gorgeous icon. Price is right. Only thing I could think to change would be a "add to Google Reader" subscibe feature. Nice work.
simple & slick interface. price is great. I become a fan of MobileRSS after using iPad version. its a fun app for reading..
I didnt want to buy it because I knew I could just go on the Google Reader website and read everything there. But the UI is just too good. Its too simple and nice NOT to buy. The price was holding me back though. I used Mobile RSS on my iPad before I returned it, and I loved it. It would be cool if there was some kind of package deal where if you buy this one you can get a discount on the iPhone or iPad app. It would be even better if the iOS app was universal. Anyway, Mobile RSS is a really nice Google Reader client. Im a big fan of it. Some things I dont like: It needs an unsubscribe function: I tried double clicking, secondary clicking, and I checked the menus. I clicked "Help" and "MobileRSS Help" but theres nothing there. NetNewsWire (the ad-supported version from their site, not the lite version from the app store) will let you unsubscribe from the app and its free. For $5, this app should out perform any free app (ad supported or not). I understand how time consuming and difficult it is to build an application. So, as a suggestion, please add the ability to unsubscribe from feeds from the app. If its already there, I apologize, but its not easy to find. Feedback when sending to Instapaper: It would be nice if a pop-up would appear or some kind of dialog box to confirm that the article has been sent to Instapaper. Im not sure if other sharing features return a notification because I dont use anything but Instapaper at the moment. In-app browser: This might be a tough one, but being able to view full feeds that have been truncated in the app rather than having to open a web browser would be great. Im not sure if this is the sort of coding that would bump the price up the NetNewsWre level (Ive only worked with C# for Windows Phone 7, where it is relateively easy to add a browser into an app) but it would be pretty awesome if the feature was there.
This is the most useful apps when im using iphone and ipad. The mac version have the trouble because it cannot set to show all readed stuff. This is the only point I give 4 star. Hope next version can have settings to change it.
Really needs to be updated to include in window browser, having another window popup to read a full article is a PITA. Also needs to have a way to manage feeds. These are drop dead MUST haves in my opinion. I love the iPad and iPhone versions but on the Mac this is a disappointment. I hope it is update soon.
I bought the Mac app sight-unseen, based on how much I like the iPad app. But I now regret that after finding that not only does it NOT have a built-in web browser like its iPad brother, theres no "Mark These Items as Read" option - meaning that you can only select the entire feed as read, and not just the number of items you loaded in a batch. That makes this app fairly useless to me, since Id be forced to leave the articles in the batch I scanned through as unread, or else Id have to mark items as read that I didnt get to scan yet. That means I get to see the items I wanted to mark as read all over again the next time I try to read feeds.
Honestly, Reeder has set the bar here, but I was looking for another application to simultaneously manage a separate Google Reader account. Really liking the iPhone app, but this one is missing some features. First off - PLEASE let me widen more the columns than what youre currently allowing... especially since Im on a large screen. To force fixed width on these columns is nearly a deal-breaker. Having better distinction of feeds when viewing all unread items in a folder would be very helpful (show some separation or distinction) Next, MORE keyboard / arrow support. I hate using a mouse, and prefer to use keystrokes to manage things (much quicker). Please allow arrowing between the articles, and then back between feeds. Arrow support everwhere! (And seriously, 3-key strokes are necessary to mark items as read?? ) An in-app browser would be nice for quick-viewing of content. Tool tips for your icons across the top (what the hell does that square and smileyface mean?) All that said, this is a pretty decent reader. Really like the image previews. UPDATE: You are unable to search through your feeds - this is a major limitation for, so now Im putting this at a 2 star. (This is a reason that free trials would be helpful here in the App Store - miss those)
For as excellent as MobileRSS HD is, this is pretty disappointing. I have hopes for its future. Lots of minor, but in accumulation annoying, UI issues. You cant drag it to another monitor, scroll and arrow keys dont work in a natural way, the UI is clearly a pretty straight over port from iOS. The iOS app is more functional. There havent been any updates, so it doesnt appear there is active development, either. Unfortuantely, my recommendation is to save your money until it has improved.
The recent gReader redesign finally pushed me to a stand-alone app. Ive tried most of the popular RSS readers and MobileRSS is my favorite. Its got the polish & style you expect from a mac app. It could still use a few things to be perfect: • Manual reordering of feeds / folders • In app browser • Ability to turn off unread count • ability to adjust feed list fonts • Share to Facebook
I have MobileRSS for my iPhone and iPad and now my MacBook. I love the UI of MobileRSS which is why I stopped using the Google Reader website. Like most of Googles products, Reader has a horrible, ugly and unusable UI. MobileRSS does need full-screen support and some ability to add/delete/organize RSS feeds. If possible, I would like an option so that whenever I click to open an article in Safari, my desktop wont switch to Safari. I use Safari in full-screen mode, so whenever I click on an article in MobileRSS my desktop switches to Safari.
I just got the Desktop app from AppStore but Im disappointed because it does not work very good. When you click to the links from the feeds, theres no response (doesnt work at all). Also, The titles of every feed are small to be differenced well at first sight and I miss, When I use half screen, an horizontal scroll to read the feed. Its not ready to be released... knows anyone how can I could be refunded for this purchase?
It was ok, the mobile version is my favorite. But this desktop version started to crash since the Osx Lion update! So we need an update for this app! And would be good a Full Screen possibility too! I hope, the crashes will be solved soon. updated: Still crashes, always. Please, FIX IT!
Please look into adding a view which scrolls a few feeds at a time (in tiled layout) across the page, where perhaps a hover/click would open the feed. For example, I like how my yahoo page scrolls news stories because I like to just keep it running and check it out here and there as I do household stuff. I would LOVE being able to have a similar option with my feeds. Thanks!!
Ive tried several of the other RSS readers out there and by far I believe this one is the best. I love how it syncs flawlessly with Google Reader and has the ability to cache articles for offline reading and is quite fast. It still has potential to grow and Im hoping that the developer will put out an update to make it on par with the iOS version (which I also love), such as the ability to add feeds directly from the app. Right now one still must go to the Google Reader website. This is only a minor complaint however and by far I love the ease of use and look and feel. It does everything I want an RSS reader to do! Also, it has the ability to download the full post of some summary feeds and can search for previous posts. Oh, and also it would be nice to have the ability to e-amil the full article, right now it is a link to the article. However overall it is well worth it for the great features!
The interface is good. The only problem is that I cannot "add a subscription" on the MacBook app. I have to "add" from my iPhone then refresh on the laptop. This is kind of a pain. It needs to be updated.
I love the feel and presentation of this app, but it really needs to have the ability to add/edit feeds. Otherwise, its great for my workflow.
Loads articles faster than Reeder and shows images in plain view instead of having to click the article. The design is okay. It needs more features though. Feed management, mark as read while scrolling and full screen view just come to mind. Auto refresh doesnt seem to work for me and doesnt have any integration whatsoever with osX lion(notification centre for example).
any arabic title in all feed looks in wrong way . it should be from right side to left side.
